Mazda and Fiat signed an agreement for the production of the new Alfa Romeo Roadster

Mazda and Fiat today announced the signing of the agreement to end production by Mazda, a two-seater convertible sports car for Alfa Romeo plant in Hiroshima Japan from year 2015.

The new roadster Alfa Romeo will be developed for the global market and will be based on the architecture of the next-generation Mazda MX-5. The agreement includes the development of two models of rear wheel drive, but with a distinctive style. Also, each of the variants will feature a range of engines from each manufacturer itself.

Through this agreement, Mazda aims to increase the efficiency of its development and production processes, as well as a renewed focus on the segment of two-seater convertible sports worldwide. In turn, this partnership will allow the Italian company to have a contemporary interpretation of the classic Alfa Romeo roadster using the latest technical solutions, which also contribute to the achievement of its objectives for 2016.
