The fuel lines in the engine compartment of the affected vehicles were manufactured with nickel phosphate coating to protect against corrosion.
In some of the tubes it could happen that coating particles have been deposited on the surface where the fuel pressure sensor seal sits. In that condition, the sealing properties between the pressure sensor and the pipe could degrade.
With the vehicle running fuel can leak through the seal. In the presence of an ignition source, it could increase the risk of vehicle fire.
To date there has been no accidents due to this situation, counted 3 customer complaints across Europe.
In Spain, 1.909 units LS, GS, IS, IS and IS-F Convertible models manufactured since September to September 2004 2010 be reviewed.
